 The International Public Policy Forum
Welcome! The Bickel & Brewer law firm and New York University welcome you to the Web site for the International Public Policy Forum (IPPF). Founded in 2001, the IPPF is a global debate competition that gives high school students the opportunity to participate in written and oral debates on issues of public policy.
The 2009-2010 IPPF competition is currently underway. Teams submitted their qualifying round essays in October and the “Top 32” teams were announced this November. To see who advanced to the “Top 32” round, view the “2009-2010 Bracket” tab on the menu bar to the left.
This is an exciting year for the IPPF - more international teams than ever are participating, greater awards and prize money will be given out, and eight teams will earn all-expenses-paid trips to the IPPF Finals Weekend in New York in April 2010!
Visit this site for competition updates throughout the year!
For the second consecutive year, the Bellaire High School debate team earned the title of Champion during the 2008-2009 competition. The team from Bellaire, Texas, received the $10,000 grand prize and the “Bickel & Brewer Cup” during an awards banquet in New York City in April.
The second place prize of $3,500 was awarded to Plano Senior High School from Plano, Texas, while Deer Park High School from Deer Park, Texas, and Glenbrook North High School from Northbrook, Illinois, were both given $1,000. Visit www.youtube.com/ippforum to see video of the final debate!
